Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Overview
SecurePDFRedactor ("we", "our", "the service") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.
The short version: your PDF documents never leave your browser. We collect limited, anonymised analytics data about how the site is used — not about the content of your documents.
1. Your Documents
SecurePDFRedactor processes PDF files entirely inside your browser using local memory (RAM). No file data, page content, redaction coordinates, or document metadata is ever transmitted to our servers or any third-party server.
When you close the browser tab or navigate away, all document data is cleared from memory automatically. We have no access to your documents and no record of what you have redacted.
2. Analytics Data We Collect
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised usage data. This helps us understand how the tool is being used so we can improve it.
GA4 may collect:
- Pages visited and time spent
- Browser type and operating system
- Country-level location (not precise location)
- Referring website or search engine
- Events such as tool usage (anonymised, no document content)
GA4 uses cookies to track sessions. These cookies do not contain any information about the content of your documents. Google's data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. We do not use advertising cookies, social media trackers, or any third-party analytics beyond GA4.
3. Third-Party Libraries
SecurePDFRedactor loads two open-source JavaScript libraries from external CDNs to power the PDF processing engine:
- pdf.js — loaded from mozilla.github.io. This library renders your PDF pages locally inside the browser. Mozilla may log your IP address as part of standard CDN delivery.
- pdf-lib — loaded from unpkg.com. This library constructs the output PDF file locally inside the browser. Unpkg may log your IP address as part of standard CDN delivery.
Neither library receives any content from your documents. They execute entirely inside your browser's local environment.
4. Cookies
We use the following cookies: Google Analytics cookies (_ga, ga*) — used to distinguish users and sessions for analytics purposes. These are session and persistent cookies set by GA4.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or any cookies that track you across other websites. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies will prevent GA4 from collecting analytics data but will not affect the PDF redaction functionality.
5. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- The contents of your PDF documents
- Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
- Payment information (the service is free)
- Account or login data (no accounts exist)
- Precise geographic location
6. Data Retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default per Google's standard settings. We do not store any personal data on our own servers beyond standard server access logs, which are retained for no longer than 90 days and used solely to diagnose technical issues.
7. Children's Privacy
SecurePDFRedactor is a general purpose tool suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we collect no personal information from any user, this service complies with COPPA by design.
8. Your Rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the right to:
- Access personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority
Because we collect no identifiable personal data beyond what GA4 anonymously collects, there is typically nothing for us to retrieve or delete on your behalf. For GA4 data deletion requests, please contact us and we will submit a deletion request to Google on your behalf.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Last updated date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
