Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using securepdfredactor.com ("the Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Use of the Service
SecurePDFRedactor is provided free of charge for personal and commercial use. You may use the Service to redact sensitive information from PDF documents entirely within your browser. No registration or payment is required to use the Service.
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or redistribute the Service without permission
- Interfere with the servers or networks associated with the Service
- Use the Service to process documents you do not have legal authority to modify
2. Accuracy and User Responsibility
SecurePDFRedactor uses true rasterization technology to permanently destroy text layers in PDF documents. However, the accuracy and completeness of redaction depends on:
- Correct placement of redaction boxes by the user
- Whether the original document contains embedded text or is a scanned image
- The specific structure of the PDF being processed
The user assumes full responsibility for verifying that all intended content has been redacted before distributing any document processed with this Service. Do not rely solely on SecurePDFRedactor for documents where redaction failure could result in legal liability, personal harm, or regulatory violation without independent verification of the output file.
3. No Warranty on Scanned Documents
Scanned PDFs are already image-based and contain no text layer. For scanned documents, redaction boxes are drawn over the image. The tool detects and notifies you of scanned pages automatically.
4. Intellectual Property
The design, code, text, and visual assets of SecurePDFRedactor are protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or redistribute them without prior written permission. The underlying open-source libraries used by this Service — including pdf.js and pdf-lib — are subject to their respective open-source licences.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every device and browser.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including but not limited to any redaction failure, data exposure, or document loss — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service loads open-source libraries from third-party CDNs (mozilla.github.io and unpkg.com). We are not responsible for the availability or behaviour of these third-party services.
8. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. The Last updated date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
